In general, benefits of biomass plants compared to coal and other fossil fuel plants include reduced waste and reduced emissions. Biomass plants provide jobs and additional tax revenues for local economies.

The specific benefits of our Piedmont Green Power plant to Barnesville and the Lamar County area include:

the addition of as many as 27 permanent, well-paying full-time jobs, providing $1.2 to $1.5 million in total wages per year

over 300 construction jobs in building the plant

a new source of income for suppliers and supporting businesses throughout the region

less reliance on out-of-state and foreign energy imports, with the plant burning 500,000 tons of woody biomass annually - 100% of which will come from the local region

an additional source of county and state taxes
